The Bremer TAFE Grows Presence at Education City
Date: 04 March 2010

The Bremer Institute of TAFE Springfield campus has more than tripled its learning space at Springfield’s Education City to cater for record enrolments.
The expansion has allowed The Bremer TAFE to introduce customised systems and technologies for tailored delivery to meet record demand for its programs this semester.
The Bremer TAFE’s Institute Director Michael Thomas said the new accommodation on Level 3 of the World Knowledge Centre was the result of extensive planning and an architecturally-designed fit-out that combines state-of-the-art learning, computing and office spaces to accommodate up to120 students.
“The new facilities feature two high-end design labs and software for Auto CAD 3D rendering, graphic design, and specialised business and accounting applications,” Mr Thomas said.
“Within classrooms, purpose-built operable walls enable flexible learning spaces, and cutting-edge audio and visual presentation systems maximise teaching delivery in a modern learning environment.”
Mr Thomas said the new Springfield Campus premises have been established to meet increased demand for the Justice Administration, Auto CAD (Computer Aided Design) 2D and 3D, Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, and Community Services programs.
“The increase in teaching and learning space will help meet the future growth and demand for vocational education and training within the greater Ipswich region.
“The latest figures show that across the board, The Bremer TAFE has experienced more than a 20 percent increase in demand above last year for this semester, exceeding the average 7.6 percent increase recorded for TAFE state-wide,” Mr Thomas said.
“Feedback received at The Bremer TAFE’s January Information Sessions at Springfield and Bundamba revealed that pursuing study and training for a qualification had a higher priority in 2010 than it did last year.”
Springfield Land Corporation Executive General Manager of Education and Health, Terry Kearney said The Bremer TAFE’s expansion at Education City continued to position the site as an education hub.
“We are very happy to see The Bremer Institute of TAFE succeeding and expanding their business as Education City grows to become Australia’s leading ‘lifelong learning’ campus for the delivery of educational services to not just the Western Corridor and Queensland but the remainder of Australia and South East Asia,” Mr Kearney said.
“We look forward to seeing The Bremer Institute of TAFE continue to grow as an integral and valuable contributor to our unique campus in Greater Springfield,” he said.
The World Knowledge Centre is situated in the heart of the Education City in Greater Springfield’s new CBD and is in walking distance to Orion Shopping Centre, Health City, child care centres, student accommodation, primary and tertiary Institutions, and a retail village (convenience store, eatery, café and bar).
The precinct also enjoys direct motorway access to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Western Corridor and public transport systems.
